Wow, YAKUZA, your sticky says 13°C :D Chilly...
Okey, so take something sharp and chop between the basjoo mother and pup in about 25° angle vertically towards the corm taking a little bit of it for the pup. That's in basjoo and lasiocarpa case. The ideal size for removal is about 40cm and more.
I would leave those DC pups on the plant, so that they can grow faster and remove them, when nr.4 emerges.
1 to 3 pups a plant is still a good ratio, their growth is quite balanced.
Tissue culturing maybe griphuz. ;)

Nice. :D It's cold here too, bet we don't fall below 17°C even in night's minimums.
Separate the Musella lasiocarpa pups and basjoo pups. I would leave the rest be on the mother corm for now.
What plants do you have at your disposal? Those TCs, which cultivars.

Ante, against spidermites (I've never had any of my citruses or other plants infected with them) I adviced my friend in Czech republic, to spray them with the kitchen soap diluted in water or try whatever thing you use to wash up with. Just one thing there, make a cone or something, because when this water eliminates the spidermites, it will go down to the roots and the plants will make then deformed leaves (like poisoning).
You have to make some sort of a barrier b4 using any soap on the plants.
I repeat, it mustn't get to the roots.
The percentage is irrelevant, my friend used very strong percentage (let 1 soap stand in 3 litres and chop it in).
It won't hurt the leaves, when it's strong, in will however hurt the roots.
This procedure makes a thin film on the leaves and all the parasites simply die out, because they will either be poisoned or won't be able to get ne air...
Good luck.

You can toss the whole standard soap in 2 to 3 litres of water, you want use less. ;) But be careful, this water MUSTN'T GET TO THE ROOTS. If it does, the plant will then produce several deformed leaves.
I also sometimes use the saponate you use to wash up your dishes after the meal. It also effective and it also can't reach roots.
Usually, when you stir the mixture and it makes bubbles, it's good.
I don't know about that leaf cutting. If I were you, I would cut the leaves on the first group and leave the leaves on the second group of plants and you will see. ;)

I use 1-2 drops of Dawn Dish Detergent in a 2 qt. spray bottle; seems to work fine. A little goes a long way. Remember to spray top and bottom of leaves as well as soil.

It should, but I REPEAT, don't pour the soap on the roots. Many soaps will cause deformed growth, so only leaves and pstems, no roots!

Repeat the dilute soap spraying once or twice a day for 5 days, that should be enough. Then once again another 3 or 4 days with a 3 days pause, for new generation of the larva to come ...

Ante, once your DC or SDC starts producing 20 to 30 pups a month, you will reconsider it very quickly. :D
If someone doesn't want the pups, I usually plant them out in the field with corn, quite close to where I live. It's about 40 small SDC there. If no-one is interested till fall, I think that those bananas are fried. But maybe some will surivive and create a new strain of super cold hardy super dwarf bananas. :D
Just kiddin.

I planted two water suckers. One died after a while. The other has been in the ground for like 10 months and is about 20% bigger. I have a sword pup I may replace that with. I'm letting it get big before I even seperate, the base circumference is probably 5x the size of the one in the ground already.

Ou I get it. :D Soon my friend. I also experimentally started to propagate Pahari Kela (or at least I did a preparing step). The plant was forced to make lots of new roots yet can't grow upside so by the time it realizes it, it will have to make many pups. I hope at least for 4 to 6 in first generation, then remove them and later on another 10 maybe. We'll see. :D
Other than that, everything is still very small, although Musa 'Dwarf Brazilian' is making first larger leaves (larger than my hands and I'm a musician ;) ) and it also loses coloration in the leaves, so it might finally ping off. :D Hopefully.
Raja Puri small, SDC have few small pups, some were killed by the recent storms in here, Grand Nains are growing, some better, some less, Dajiao too, Maurelli's too small for propagation. :D Sitting ducks. They are all just sitting ducks. :(

Hi Marcel,
I've been trying to reach you on your mail, didn't you get it?
Both pups are doing extremely well, Dwarf Brazilian is way stronger than RP (from obvious reason)...
Okay, so here are the boys:
Dwarf Brazilian when I got it in May
http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq201/Jackob_Daw/Exotika%20-%20banany/2009%20-%20Marcels%20Gifts/20090519-MarcelsGifts001.jpg

----
Raja Puri in May, when I got it (oh yeah, it was tough, but them ore I appreciate its comeback)
http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq201/Jackob_Daw/Exotika%20-%20banany/2009%20-%20Marcels%20Gifts/20090520-MarcelsGifts008.jpg

http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq201/Jackob_Daw/Exotika%20-%20banany/20090715/20090715-Bananaprogress005.jpg
Raja Puri tomorrow [to come]
----------------------------------------
Other than that:
Punica granatum: 2 plants surived the trip, both were swept to no-one knows when by the high speed winds from a week ago (120 to 150km/hod).
The fig is making small roots and starting to show some buds, passiflora was dead before I could do anything, Herculescue has about 1,5m right now and I don't really know, how far it will want to go... It grows well with tomatoes, so I guess I will stretch it like a vine. :D
Other plants survived/rooted and are being adapted/planted out. :D
They kinda like it here, it reminds them of home (we do really have almost the same weather, although mine is a little bit more unpredictible with worse extremes. :D ).
OK, gotta go, will post more tomorrow.
Really nice to hear from you again Marcel.
Hope you will stick with us longer, there are some cool people here you might enjoy speaking to... :waving::goteam::woohoonaner:

I only brought it in when the weather was reaslly bad or it got down in the 50s at night, which we had some cold nights and very bad storms with lots of damage also we had 2 different nights we lost power from 1hr to 3 1/2hrs.

Oh, YAKUZA, that's a Mord. :D How could you leave babies in the sunlight?
Would you do that with your babies? No really, plants are not that different from other living organisms...
Let the recover and don't have high expactations from them for some time...
Good luck with them, fear not, you will learn to germinate. It took me about 200 ungerminated palm seeds till I found out how and when. :nanadrink:
YAKUZA, are your temps on sticker true? Only about 22°C?

:woohoonaner:

I would go with partial shade (although I have only experience with palms!) and keep them there about 2 or 3 weeks. Only then try to adapt them to the sun. Such an early burning might be a shock that plant could be recovering from a very long time, even though growing properly! ;)
Btw. this is the first time, that my thermometer and my sticker say the same temperature: 90°F or 32°C. :D
