Hello,
I live in the Sandhills of NC - Cold Zone - Lower South and what I hear referred to for the heat zone 7b (almost 8)

I planted 4 orinocos this spring. I am not sure where you measure for the tree height, but going by where the leaves are coming out (vs the highest spot the top leaf end hits) 2 are about 6 feet high, 1 is 7 feet and the other about 8 feet.

I need to learn how to winter them over and where to transplant the pups (4-6 of them I think) to (inside where? in pots outside mulched and covered?)

I think I am supposed to cut the mothers down if I read a diagram correctly and then cover and mulch them, but where do I cut them off?

I'll be reading, but if anyone has some favorite posts that answer those questions, let me know.
Thanks:

Good to meet you Obrien! There are quite a few posts about this. Just use the search function using 'overwintering' as a keyword.
Welcome to Bananas!

I would suggest bringing potted pups inside.
The mother gets cut off wherever you want - it may depend on what you have to cover it with. For example, if you use a leaf cage, cut the mother back to the height of your cage. After the first frost hits the plant, then wait for the leaves to dry out to cut them off.
