Greenie - hope those beauties are safe! I had to cut the bunch from my dwarf orinoco before the storm - it was within a couple of weeks of being ready anyway.

Yes, what are you going to do with them all?

I think you need to open up a produce stand or have a banana daiquiri party.

WOW!!! Those are some great bananas.
I had a couple of plants fruiting but Hurricane Gustof broke both plants here in Gulf Shores, Al. But I'm not complaining as everything else is OK here, and that's the great thing about having lots of banana plants in the ground. Thanks

Sorry to hear that Bo - did you have them braced?
Cassie

09-02-2008, 10:03 PM
Hey Island Cassie, I did'nt brace them. I did'nt think we would get as much wind here as we did. I will be ready with braces next year though. This was my second year growing bananas and just seeing a flower has been great. I guess you live and learn.

Well Bo - it happens to us all - I have a dwarf cavendish with a big bunch that I didn't have time to brace before I got home tonight in the dark from Santiago. TS Hanna wasn't supposed to turn our way today but she has been battering the area all day after she turned SE. I expect to find it on the ground by morning but it only has less than a month to go so it will ripen.
