Hey guys,
I had 3 hawaiin double plants that I thought were doing quite well. One day they started to recede at the base of the plant. It continued to get worse until the plant just fell over. Is this a sort of rot that I could have prevented? The plants looked very healthy and green. I didn't see any insects but, I mean, they could have bitten away at it but I am not sure.
Thanks for the input.

In pots under a grow light. ill see if I can take pics later on. the recession started on one side at the base and slowly grew into a 1 inch chunk missing till it just fell over. It was about 2 feet tall when it happened.

Are you under lights all the time...
New plants look great till they see that the new home sucks
I grow under lights in the winter.
Toss out more info to diagnose your issue.
Apartment?

No. I grew these from very small tissue cultures. I cycle lights on and off. their usually on for about 8 hrs a day.

My plan was to overwinter in our shop and then plant them in the fields in the spring.

You are in East Tex...put the boys outside and dry out the pots.
or plant them in the ground..
There are a bunch of fellow texans forum members whoo are killing it growing the ground.
I know you got small ones.....

I tried with the last one that had this same issue. One gust of wind knocked it down and broke the stem. Is there anyway to rehab this last one besides putting it outside? I think you are alluding to overwatering but I usually only water it sparsely but spraying the leaves with a light mist.

Check the moisture at the middle and bottom of the pot. If it is wet, then repot in course sand after washing the corm with bleach water.

Thanks ill check the soil again. I made sure to use a sandy loam made for cactuses already but maybe my wife overwatered while I was away.
