What are some suggestions for edible cultivars? Space is not a factor, but lower humidity and higher temps/more sun than closer to coast may be limiters. Zone 10 inland San Diego (~10 mi from coast), western sloped exposure. Please lend me some suggestions for any of the following, or ones to steer clear of:

Best taste/fruit
Best for zone
Large and medium size mature trees
Best for windy areas
Best edible tree specimens
Good for pool area landscaping

Thx,

Pueblo

I'd go with dwarf namwah. Probably the best suited variety for your area.

Any of the zone 9 & 8 varieties should do well for you.

Welcome to bananas.org from another San Diego grower.
I grow 9 different varieties near Mission Bay and have a Pisang Ceylon mat going about 20 miles inland at another place.
Namwah and all Mysore varieties (Pisang Ceylon, Pisang Klotek) will grow here very well. If you are planning on growing on a windy hillside, you may want to consider Dwarf Brazilian and Dwarf Namwah. With growing big banana bunches come big propping skills 😉.
