I've never had to do this before, so, I need some advice, please...

I have to bring this inside for the winter soon, and, I need to reduce the height a little bit... The psuedo-stem is about 6 feet tall...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

When I was in Charlotte I put a naner that size in a pot. Then crack the petioles of each leaf near the trunk. Leave cigar leaf as is till it grows out. It fits in a 8 ft ceiling room in front of a sliding glass door. South facing it gets sun. Rotate plant daily to expose all the lay down leaves. Plant grows bigger for spring planting inground. Whaalaa!

Amazing, I never knew the leaves could survive being 'broken' like that. I just assumed that the plant would not be able to supply nutrients anymore.

I will have to give this a try for my viente cohol and maybe a dwarf orinoco.....

so what do you do with the cigar leaf coming out which is too tall? cut? bend?

directions read to leave it alone

if you cut them would they turn out like the leaf in cincinnana's first pic?
