I've been investigating a waste product of the sugar industry for the past couple of years as a growing media. My final phase is figuring out the irrigation and fertilization requirements. I decided to use bananas as my test plant and now I have 144 Williams bananas planted with different fertilizer and irrigation regimes.

So what is the "by product" you are using as a growing medium? Best of luck with your research.
