i also can't get over the bitterness of the surinam cherries. i'm thinking about guerilla planting it in an area where i can access the fruit if my opinion changes. i know someone from the islands that uses them and other fruits to make a type of moonshine.

It's not easy and it will only become harder if all you do is complain. :ha:

You can pick them when they're dark purple, sweet, and ripe.

I have been picking them dark and soft. Still taste like ka ka.
Club members say eat a miracle fruit first.
Two tropical fruit that I am crazy about are parcha and guanabana. Had them since I was a kid.

Then it must be an acquired taste, that you apparently haven't acquired yet.
I'd say eat the ka ka first and then see if the Surinam Cherry really tastes the same.

Love Soursop too, just got some seeds from my gram to try and grow a tree. Anyone know how long Surinam Cherry trees take to bear fruit from seeds?

In the tropics it takes about a year, and they will easily fruit in a small pot.

WONDERFUL! I was researching plants in that family, like the cherimoya and the sugar-apple, and saw that the junglesop takes about ten years to bear reliably so I was a bit apprehensive lol. Thanks for clarifying :nanadrink:
