There's a small neighborhood in Memphis, TN about 35 miles north of me where they have been growing musa orinocos since the 60's and doing well. Gives me hope.

Welcome abord from SouthMississippi - Biloxi -
Orinoco is the hardiest musa that I have tried and easy to grow - followed closely by Tall Namwah. I like the taste of the namwahs more.
also have D.Namwah, Cali gold, IC(Bjava) but they haven't produced fruit yet.

Good luck with your musa farm
My brother-in-law lives in Baihaia MS (?spelling) not far from Memphis but he doesn't do nanas..

Merry christmas
