your best plant ever? And do you think it turned out the best just because of your handling after you got it?

I have bought from or traded with a couple dozen nurseries and individuals, and only had one or two that didn't work out. Some took more work on my part, and some came ready to explode into growth, some died, but pupped before they did, etc. Most can survive if you are prepared to work at it a little. Once in a while you get junk that is beyond hope. If it survives, it was a good deal in the end. A large portion of my plants came as tissue cultures from A and B Tropicals.

I waited forever (OK 9 months) for a TC of Pitogo (just slow going) and then it developed slowly for another 8 months in a one gallon pot, and finally a 5 gallon, and then went into the ground about 2 months ago and now the leaf tips are 9' in the air.

Most of my plants are best for what they are, and it is not limited to bananas. I have more than 275 kinds of fruiting cultivars in my yard. But here are major sources of my best plants: 25% came from online orders (eBay, going-bananas, banana garden, and other online stores), 25% came from big box stores (WalMart, Home Depot, OSH, Costco), 25% came from our local nurseries (very pricey, but have lifetime waranties, and high quality plants suited to our area), and 25% from trade, exchanges, garage sales.

The best tasting categories are found almost equally well from all of my sources.

That is about what I figured, a banana plant is what [I]you[I] make of it!

The free ones!! :D Seems like the free ones always seem to do better than the ones you pay dearly for. Something to do with Murphy's Law, I think (by the way, Murphy lives in MY house, LOL).
