We are leaving tomorrow at about 5 am to West Lebanon NH for the weekend (or longer if I can talk Mike into it). There's a sale on Woodstock soapstone woodburners that we've had our eyes on for years now, and they are having a big mortgage burning party & big discounts on the woodburners along w/ a 30% tax credit. It's a 18 hour drive (according to google map) but we'll do it in much less hopefully. I've never been to the NE before (Atlantic City- 1 night casino doesn't count LOL), so looking fwd. I'll yell out & wave from the sunroof to all my friends on the way. Maybe (if I'm lucky), Mike will treat us to some NE ocean lobster!!

Patty , if you happen to get this while you're nearby stop by for a martini and a garden tour if you get down this way. I've been checking out the woodstock soapstone stoves for years and haven't puled the trigger on one yet. Jealous... which one are you getting? I always liked the " keystone".

Thanks Gang! I wrote in last night on my new laptop from a hotel in Albany, Ny last night & it got zpped off! Grrrrr...I was too tired. Mike insisted on driving, as I was a good map person, or we woulda got lost LOL:. He drove for 16 hours! We looked for motel at exit 25 in Albany, NY & it just wasn't there...but found a hotel for too much $$$ but wewerev beat. Got here to West Lebanon, NH about noon today...don't know if their time or mine lol. i TELL YA, nEW yORK WAS A long trip from west to east, but absolutely gorgeous!!!!
We are staying at a nice place for much cheaper (70 vs 100) & is only 2 blocks away from Woodstock.
Bob, we were looking at the Palladium & decided on the fireview which is A inch wider & more btu's. Palladium is almost like the keystone except for the front view. They are having a sale ending tomporrow w/ 600.00 off plus 30% tax credit! Mike paid for it today & we will go to pig roast party tomorrow & they will pack it in truck for us. I think you shgould come here!!!!! I just tried to talk Mike into going south by you & he says he hs to go to work ....BAH! I would love to visit even for a minute, but ....
Never been here beforv & it is cetainly beautiful & the roads are excellent! Sorry to cut this short but I will say we had Maine LOBStER tonight one block away c& it was great!!!! See you after a long trip home.
We wer going to see a friend in Thomaston, Maine & I noticed 'Rockville' just north of it. Hey Scuba Dave....isn't that you!?? His friendv isn't around (too sudden notice) & vwoulda loved to have met you too.

Sounds like you're having a great time!! I'm jealous!! I went to NY once, years ago and had an awesome time. Ate at the most amazing resturant in Manhatten called Jeckle & Hydes and had a carriage ride in Central Park. A very short but memorable weekend!

Drive safe!

Patty and Mike stopped by today and miraculously at the right time in between the all day rain we are having here. .... though I couldn't send her off with any plants since the car was packed full!:ha:

Was great to finally meet you guys... this makes 5 members I've met in person.

We got home today at 4pm to warm sunny weather. Left western PN at 6:45am where we stoped to get a room at about 4 pm yesterday. (after Bob's garden visit) & to watch packer game from Philadelphia (packers won!!) Funny ...with google map/directions, it vtook 22 hours to get to NH & with my map it took 18 hours to get home! What a farce!
We met lots of nice ppl but the highlite waS meeting Bob & Anne! I didn't know we'd stop there till after we left here or I woulda brought some plants for your shade garden.
I think Anne was worried about the dogs being a little rambunctuouse so I stole 6 doggie biscuits from the lobby (doggie friendly) & the clerk looked at me knowing I didn't have a dog, so I told him I was hungry LOL. Your dogs are cool Bob...they liked us even w/out the treats. I was looking for a way to fit them in car to take them home but no room:( LOL
It was so nice to see your garden in person! I kept saying "this looks familiar....I've seen this before" but I tell ya, it looks better in person. Sooo tropical looking! Those nana plants are HUGE - esp the base... like they were grown in Fl. And, those EE's... we never saw anything like that..as big. And to think, you are only one zone warmer than me. Very impressive Bob. I feel sorry for you digging up your nanas.
Oh, and thanks for getting that leg lamp out so I could see it in person! I love that lamp .. from the movie A CHRISTMAS STORY. Leave that for me in your will OK? :) Looks like Anne did some trick photography on that pic....looks like I have one leg (I hate getting my pic taken so I gotta learn to guit squirming LOL). It's a nice pic Anne:)
Hey if you ever get out this way, you gotta see my garden ...here & at Mike's house.
Howard & JohnNY, I woulda loved to visit you but I couldn't get there in short time.
We got that 500 lb woodburner out of my trunk & of course w/ Mike's expertise on the skidster. I'llv try to post pics tomorrow. We just love this new woodburner! Worth the trip.
I'm soooo tired.

We did 2,300 miles on trip. Sat. was the only day we took off = no driving except for a few blocks. They did a drawing for a free stove but -ugh, we didn't win.
Here's the owner of Co. after they got the stove packed in my little pt cruiser - to their surprise. They gave another $100 off if you take it with.

Here's their website Welcome to Woodstock Soapstone (http://www.woodstove.com/)
Looks like a guy from Mass won the free stove.
Hey Bob, Like I said, the owner Tom, said he would give you same deal... $600 off plus you get about 600 tax credit. We picked the 'Fireview'...will hook it all up this wkend
