I am looking for seeds or a small plant of this species. I have many different banana varieties and some seeds, I can't remember which ones right now are available but if you are interested please let me know.

If I had some seeds I would send you some Gabe;

But they have them at www.rarepalmseeds.com

Be sure to buy at the wholesale department, or you will pay your shirt for only a few seeds. Minimum order is 100 dollars I think, so you could fill up with a few other species.

How many seeds are in a "package"?

Wholesale means at least 100 seeds per specie. Thats' a lot if you want a few different species.

Does anyone know if there is a source for plants of 'Helen's Hybrid' in the US?

you could probably go to you local gh and find a helena this time of year. my fav gh started selling the helena last dec or jan. he was reasonably priced to. i think for a mom and a pup it was like $15.00. so look in the gh's and make sure you look in the back corners you might find something you never thght you would find. and it may be very inexpensive. hope this helps.

Georgiavines has seed for a good price, and they seem fresh, just got a sprout.

Fresh or not, they all most likely come from rarepalmseeds.com, unless they are already crossing champa and sikkimensis somewhere else!

Yeah most likely, but I don't always like spending a minimum of 35-100 bucks, and she's in the states and a really nice gal.

Thanks Kyle,

I ordered a few seeds from GeorgiaVines. Here's hoping....(I usually have very limited luck with banana seeds!)

Good luck with those seeds Joe. I just noticed the georgiavines is selling some helens hybrid plants on ebay now, so if all else fails...... Was tempted to order another my self, but running out of room as is.

Good luck Joe... I've had LOTS of luck with her seeds as well!!!! I haven't gotten my helens to germinate yet, but it's only been about a month. Here's what all I've gotten to germinate so far, most from georgiavines.com

I bought live planting of Helen's Hybrid from GeorgiaVines on ebay last summer. It died down to the corm this winter, but its making a strong comeback - about 12" tall now, with one small pup just poking up through the dirt already

Thanks for the offer, but I was looking for these years ago, I'm alright now!

Sorry Bigd., which temp made the Helen's to die down to the corm? Just a curiosity, since it is considered very hardy.
