That's what I get for buying it on ebay
(seller was delete2000)
SHADE STUTTGART CANNA !
Growing plant not rhizome.
This is a Gorgeous Canna Plant, looks very tropical. It has a soft Red bloom with large lance shaped leaves. The Stuttgart does real good in the shade or part sun, and grows to 6 feet tall.
It would be perfect around a tree or a back drop in a garden.

I got some from Mike last year and I can vouch for them being nicely variegated and packed well for shipping.

I and others I know personally have grown Stuttgart for several years and have never seen it bloom. I'm not saying it won't, but it is definitely variegated.
Mediahound, I'd be glad to trade you for a nana I don't have.

Stuttgart does bloom orange, once it is taller than the fence.

Mine has yet to bloom but I think it's getting close. I'll get some pics when it does.

Bananaville, I remember someone telling me that long ago. I don't care if mine ever blooms though, I love it for the foliage.

Any other takers on Stuttgart divisions? I can squeeze a couple more out this season.

I'm about ready to give up on my Stuttgart. It is VERY sun sensitive and the one I have has so much white in the leaf it burns before the next leaf even starts to come up. Most of the time the stalk dies before reaching 5 ft. I have it under the pergola now and the new sprout that just came up is all white and now is totally brown and dead. I'd LOVE to get one that looks like the pic above. Beautiful plant but I sure can't figure it out. Ae-Ae takes a LOT more sun.
Enjoy - and I'll take ANY tips on growing this sucker.

Terry, maybe the ph is off? It is known that the ph will affect the color on Ae Ae's, maybe Stuttgart is the same.

That would be my guess. Or maybe nitrogen or iron deficient?

Any other takers on this beauty? I have a few more nice divisions I could take.

Terry,
You have to grow Stuttgart Cannas in the shade, otherwise you will always have sun burn damaged leaves.

I'm in Bakersfield CA, gets up to 110+ regularly in the summer. I have my stuttgart parked close to the ferns under a semi-shady, huge tree. It gets morning & late afternoon sun in the summer, lightly dappled shade in the winter. Lotsa water & greatly enriched w/peat/humus/organics. I just love this plant, & not just because it looks so much like an Ae'Ae. Well, that's part of the attraction ... an Ae'Ae WOULD be nice - but I'd still love the stuttgart on it's own merits! ;)
