The state has come up with another new way to squeeze more money out of the residents. They are now going to want us to buy new license plates even though, in most cases, the ones we have are perfectly good. This will cost you an extra $25.00 for each car, in addition to the registration fee (which they also just raised substantially). If you want to keep your same number, tack on another addional $20.00.
Please click on the link NONEWPLATES.COM (http://ww.nonewplates.com/) and sign the petition to protest this outrage.

I remember when they changed plates in 73 and again in 86, but I can't remember how much they were. I looked at the new ones; I like them!

Whether we like them or not, (my wife says the new ones are ugly) state officials have admitted that the only reason they're doing this is for the money; to help plug the horrendous hole in the budjet. The plates we have are aluminum, and if you don't get in an accident, or otherwise abuse them, they last, and last. T just sent in my registration renewal, and it's up to $164.00 now. With the new plate, it's $189.00. If I wanted to keep the same number, it'd be $209.00. If I wanted a vanity plate, (ie: my initials or "Bananas", etc) it would be $269.00.
Tonight's paper says, that because of the opposition, the governor may consider backing down on this.
