from my experience with the Dwarf Orinoco I would just do the whole wirecage shredded leaves deal. If I were you and trying to get blooms I would read this post

As for growing I cant stress enough the importance of proper fertilizing. I use a good water soluable fert and dynamite slow release fert from Home Depot
