There are 2 species of Musella, Musella lasiocarpa and Musella splendida, and yes they are different. They are still in their own genus, nothing has changed for a few years. If anything they are closer to Ensete, not Musa. Infact they should cross fairly easily, Ensete x Musella, but not Musa x Musella.
