reroutd from this thread:
Getting Triploid Plants for growing Seedless Fruit >>>

Hello, my dear Banana friends.

OK, first things first. I'd better explain why I created this new thread.

I'm from Europe (Central Europe to be perfectly precise)... That's when it got my attention and I started to study the "seedless banana plants" realizing, that there's no known way of getting my hands on triplods like 'Valery'...

So I decided to contact you, because I know there are also some of you who originate or often travel to Europe. Could you please mail me (csokat[at]gmail[dot]com) or pm me - any information you can provide someone from Europe on places, where I could buy TRIPLOID BANANA PLANTS that can usually be found on any large Plantation all over the world.

And I don't only mean Cavendish, but also other species, I like experimenting, but the most important for me is that they are producing seedless fruit that is edible. Just like those we can find in markets, groceries...

...

Thanks for your help and I hope someone will be able to give me ultimate advices or give/trade/sell plants.
And I got this advice, thanks to Mr.Chironex (Scot) >>>

Jack, you will find several people in Europe with banana plants that are seedless edibles. If you also make a post in the New Member Introductions section, I am certain several of your neighbors in Europe will make themselves known to you and perhaps offer some of their pups to you this spring, either by trade or for sale.
Best of luck to you!
Welcome to bananas.org!

And so I'm here.

My Dear Friends, let me introduce myself.

I'm student of technical unversity in Bratislava, Slovakia. (Central Europe, those who like GPS, here it is: 48°07'03.89"N, 17°08'54.20"E).

I live in a family, maybe now also two generation house and have a quite big garden (considering the city) with orientation on South (E-S-W) with the maximal possible legth of sun day.

Average temperature (in my garden) this summer was about 30°C ( ~86°F)(average, some weeks it was just 34 -37 (93-100~°F) with no water drops in two weeks - amazingly, some of the Alaskan and Siberian fruit managed to survive that).
Winter is much worse, as I live in the mild climate, temperatures can fall to -20°C (~-4°F) in extreme situations, just for comparison, the last winter was very hot, we only went down to -3 (~27°F) for a few weeks and then the spring began. (low temperatures are good for skiing )

So what am I doing here, on this web site wanting to grow fruit I just as well might not be able to keep alive through winter? Wrong, to be honest, I have only seen one tropical plant die in my hands because of freezing to death - Coffea Arabica, which I ordered from one company, but the delivery boy kept it outside the car for a few hours (in -5°C ~23°F, what a charming guy, he didn't even mind the inscription TROPICAL PLANTS, KEEP WARM in English).

Here's my "professional curriculum":
- grown 2 Dwarf Cavendish plants (without even knowing it, then they had fruits (and I found out) and died (fortunately had some pups - 2 I have today))
- also some other tropical plants are in my collection, above others I would mention from seeds grown Palms (yes, hardy palms - Jubaea Chilensis, Butia Capitata, Rhapidophyllum hystrix, ...)
- Some pineapples (ananas comosus, one from seed three from the pineapple leftovers (yes, it grows ))
- citruses (actually 3 grown - 2 tangerines and 1 lemon - not fruiting yet)
- nerium oleander, eucalyptus globulus... other to come to me soon...

I would also like to expand my collection with edible banana, such as that mentioned in the quotes upper. 'Valery...' I would like to grow banana in my garden (for skeptics, yes, it's possible, I've done it a few times with other tropical fruit). Therefore I'm looking for someone in the Europe, best in Central Europe, but the whole Europe is fine as well, who could give/trade/sell me any TRIPLOID cultivar, that produces SEEDLESS EDIBLE FRUIT and/or providing me with information needed to get my hands on it. Any pups will do, I've read so much already, that it surely will survive. I'll cover the shipment.

pm me, or contact at: csokat[at]gmail[dot].com

Greetings from me to all the members.
