Default Re: Dwarf Gran Nain Help- Leaves Keep Dying

Gadget is correct about lower leaf loss after transplanting. In general, the plant will drop 1 lower leaf for each 1 or 2 new leaves.

However, your plant is also suffering from salt and/or fertilizer burn. When you water, make sure the excess water goes out the bottom and keeps going somewhere else -- the plant should not sit in draining water.

Use purified water (for steam irons), OR: The day before you water put the water in a pitcher or empty milk jug and let it sit for a day, so the alkaline gases in the city water will escape. Also, add a pinch (1/4 teaspoon) of water-soluble acidic plant food to each gallon so that the alkaline water is neutralized. Finally, the last inch or so of water in your pitcher will have salts (possibly invisible) that settled out over-night. Do not use the water at the bottom.
