Thanks Kev, I read this a few weeks ago and meant to get back to it. I am still trying to determine how they made the synthetic seeds. It seems that they encapsulated the apical meristems somehow. They don't really explain how it is done.

I was also intrigued by the use of CYE (cyanbacterial extracts) in increasing shoot proliferation numbers and growth rates. It's use in stimulating somatic embryogenesis is a notable finding as well.

Thanks again for refreshing my memory - I hope to employ some of these concepts in my future research. The source for marine cyanobacterial extract may be a challenge however.
