Joy High Hopes Newby

Hi Forum, I am a 73 yr. old male, I live in central Oklahoma USA where we usually have temp. swings from 0 - 105 deg.f. with hot dry conditions in the late summer & near hurricane force winds in the spring & early summer. This makes growing anything outside quite a challenge, with the exception of weeds. I have been interested in growing plants & gardening for most of my adult life. Last fall my wife's sister and her husband bought a home in a Plano, TX just outside of Dallas and we went to visit them. There house has a pool in the back yard and surrounding the pool there was about 12 banana trees 10-14 ft. tall. And best of all no grass to mow. They were there when they bought the house. From the moment I saw them I was hooked. I couldn't hardly wait for this spring to get here so I could try to grow one. I bought a plant from A garden center about 18 in. tall and planted it in early May. It did so well I tried another one about a month later. Now my goal is to have the largest Banana Plantation in the state of Oklahoma. Thank you and wish me luck.
