I think that's normal. They seem to get on a kick making pups at one time in their life. Removing the pups could make it more likely to flower, but I'm not totally sure about this. To me, it seems like a stressed plant may flower faster. I kept this one in a pot for a year and it sure was pot bound when I planted it. Soon after, this appeared! Man, I was excited! No blooms this year from her pups, but they are fast approaching blooming size. I just need to separate some pups so I can sell them to the fine folks on this board.
