Default Re: Can anyone ID this Canna for me

Chris,

It is definitelya Thalia, maybe T. dealbata. I've grown this before and it is often found as a marginal (meaning it enjoys boggy conditions) around ponds, lakes, and other wet areas. It's range is from Florida to TX along the Gulf Coast and can be found as far north as SE Missouri, which is where I grew it. The name dealbata refers to the powdery coating on the leaves. I'm not sure about genticulata, but if yours has this powdery coating, maybe yours is dealbata.

You can grow the much like you would a canna. I grew mine in a large pot in a shallow area of my water garden when I was in Missouri. It will take water a few inches over the crown with no problem. Hope this helps!
