Default Greetings!

My name is Rick and I have lived in Richwood, New Jersey for almost 30 years. Our claim to fame in Richwood is peaches, as many acres are grown here. I started with Musa basjoo 4 or 5 years ago and have been very successful in getting them to overwinter here either with or without protection. From my original mother plant, which is currently 7 feet tall on 6/6/08 I have removed probably 20 or so plants, grew them awhile and then gave them to friends. I got a most unexpected but pleasant surprise recently when I inspected my plants trying to "Get started" for this growing season. I have an area that has 5 plants growing in it and the foliage on one just didn't look normal. I was thrilled to determine that this plant, who I have named "Matilda", was preparing to bloom. As I write this, there are 2 rows of flowers present, and I am hoping that pollenation will occur.

I have always enjoyed growing stuff and the tougher the challenge, the better I like it.
