Default Re: Dwarf Cavendish/Gran Nain questions

From what I understand...

The Dwarf Cavendish and Gran naine are both mutants of the same line of Musa (AAA) 'Cavendish'. I always had the impression that dwarf cavendish was more cold hardy, but I may be wrong.

The M. sumatrana x Gran naine hybrid is simply the result of pollinating Musa acuminata 'zebrina' (M. sumatrana) with pollen from gran naine. The result is a seeded fruit. The seeds can be sprouted and the result is the hybrid. I believe M. sumatrana is diploid (AA), while gran naine is triploid (AAA).
