I have never grown Cali Gold so can not tell you whether they have red edges or not. I did a quick search of their pics on line and did not see the red. Maybe someone who has grown them will chime in. I will say that bananas have been a mixed up ID mess forever when buying. Best place to buy is from members of this forum.
