Default Newbie Question...

Greetings All

I'm new at cultivating bananas. I purchased 2 dwarf Cavendish at Home Depot last fall. They were about 2-1/2 to 3 ft tall (in the pot). They were both nice and healthy and putting up a new leaf every 2 weeks or so. I overwintered them in their pots keeping them both by a south facing window, watering as needed.

Something strange happened. About Christmas time, one of them started putting up really small leaves. [ Going from nice broad, 2 to 2 1/2 ft long leaves to narrow, 8" to 1-1/2 ft leaves. ] These smaller leaves look healthy, and I've gotten plenty of them. Also, the tree looks to have shrunken. It's difficult to explain. The other seems to have gained a little height (and pupped, I might add) while indoors. The other seems to be wanting to set leaves further down within the trunk so that it's not adding height and actually wanting to split the trunk

Anyone know what's going on? What can I, or should I be doing about it? Thanks.
