Default ID cold hardy bananas in Alabama pls?

One of my wife’s kids lives in Birmingham, AL and has a terrific thick stand of bananas circling his pool area. I’d say the trees are about 10’ to the crown on most, some larger. I saw bunches on a few, he says he gets bunches every year but inevitably the cold catches them and they never grow and mature. They look as they’d be about 10 hands with about 10 fruits each. I’m not able to post an image but was wondering if any of our Alabama folks would have any idea as to what they might be.
I brought a couple home to Florida and they’re going gangbusters! They are a great looking plant, straight as an arrow, stout, and green. Can’t wait to see the bunches I may get.
