Default Question about Pup

Hello, my Banana people! So I investigated my first plant that I tried to plant in the ground and cut the stem down and wait over the mild winter we had here (except for at the end the temp dipped to like 12 F one night... anyhow, It appears as though the mother corm got root rot but it had a pup growing off of it so I dug up the whole thing, cleaned off the pup, removed any dark stuff, rinsed it and cut off dark roots. I don't know how to keep it overnight until I can plant it in a new spot in AM. I wrapped it in paper towels, any advice would be appreciated. THANKS!

Update: so I found some cactus epsoma soil and put the little plant plus chunk of healthy corm in that it was still attached to. Any advice or questions are welcome, thank you!!!! xoxo
