I have to do the same as well as other forum members who bring tall plants indoors.
Your shortened VC will push a new leaf just like nothing happened.
To be safe reduce water and fertilizer till you get a real leaf.
If the footprint of your other plants are too large you may cut
the leaves in half to make the plant fit the growlight
area. The short leaves will be replaced next season.
I trim to reduce canopy size and to fit more plants under supplemental lights.
