Default Water Suckers on newly planted bananas plants

I need help from the members here. I planted 4 different varieties about 3 months ago. They are all doing fine and 3 of the 4 now have 5-7 pups. Some of the pups are growing very fast and about 3 feet high already.

I visited another grower yesterday and bought a Praying Hands to add to my collection. He showed me around his banana plantation. I have now seen what a sword sucker and water sucker look like from the varieties I own. I am sad to say that I believe all of the pups I have are water suckers. Is this common from planting a pup that the first set of suckers are water suckers? If they are slow growing why are mine growing as fast as the mother?
