That is the interesting part how people have different tastes. Personally I think Orinoco, and in particular the dwarf version is a crap banana. Reason is the dwarf can have some serious corking, with tough inedible parts. On top of that, its very mealy. I think the really ripe bananas taste like a sickly artificially sweet banana. The only way to eat is is to cook it green like a potato in my opinion. Even so, it's not that great. At least she could have sent me a Cavendish.
I do think its worth growing for some reasons you mentioned. Its another easy to grow food source so it has value for that reason alone.
