Default First post—want to grow banana trees in Northern Virginia—suggestions? Possible???

Hi everyone. First post.

I have been thinking about this some time—any suggestions on how to grow fruiting banana trees, planted in ground, in northern VA? We are Zone 7. We have full sun. Wondering if I can grow something from spring to fall, maybe cut it down to the ground and mulch before winter, and have it grow again the next year? Possible? How big could in expect the plant to get? Could I get fruit? Any suggestions?

In the future, I might consider some kind of underground root warmer system.
