Welcome to the forum!!

I usually just play it by ear for the most part. I will put them in the sun and a position that will be shaded within an hour (in case I forget about them) and then see how they have done. if too much then I back it off and do, say, 30 minutes. If totally fine then I increase to 2-3 hours....rinse and repeat.

There is no issue with starting slowly, it will be no time before they are out in all their glory anyway so no need to rush it.
