I don't think its such an issue that its broken. Many mulberries are pruned so that they fork/ branch out in two different directions. Allows more light to get to the fruit and easier access for harvesting.

CountryBoy over in Baldwin County got a two-three foot plant Spring 2020.I visited him mid-late summer last year and it was about 12 feet tall. They grow really fast!
