Smile Re: How to: Terrarium

This is my simplest and a favorite terrarium style.
It is a repurposed plastic jar.
This can be used for any plant you wish to grow.

As your level of interest with terrariums expands so does your desire to do something different and up your game.

A sealed jar is one of the easiest ways to propagate ferns from spores.
This makes for an inexpensive terrarium growing experience.
After sterilizing the soilless mix in a microwave oven and a small amount added to the jar it is then "dusted" with the fern spore of your choice and then sealed until the lenghly growth process completes.
There are some great internet videos which can get you on your way in no time.

These plants were removed from the container hardened off and planted in the shade garden and then the process is started over with another variety of spore.

Ferns which have been in this sealed jar for 17 months. Grown from spores.
