I have seen lots of people overwinter Basjoo in much colder climates than mine by cutting them a few inches from the ground and piling leaves and stuff on top, and next spring pups come up after raking it away. Now would this technique work with any kind of banana? Or does it only work with Basjoo? This is my preferred method of overwintering if it would work, I don't have the room inside or a suitable crawlspace to store them in for the winter. Also, have any of my fellow North Alabamians on this site ever got any edible fruit off their plants? Thanks!
There are a bunch within your range.....to help you.
You are in a zone good to grow tropicals but bad if you have cold spell with wet weather.
