Hiya Hello and question

Hello everyone. I was searching the web for solutions and came across this site. I am a recently retired military member who was born and raised in Florida and decided to move back upon retiring. I have 2 Dwarf Cavendish bananas in pots on my porch in a pool enclosure. I recently noticed one stalk slowly wilting and leaning. I went out to inspect and the entire stalk (not the soil) was infested with ants (the non biting kind we have here in Florida). I'm thinking they killed one of my stalks. I have put ant granules in both of my pots this morning (yes, I found them under the dead hanging leaves in the other pot as well). What else should I do to try to keep these trees/plants alive? I have never done this before.
