Default Banana repotting question

Hi, I have a friend who asked me this question that I don't know how to answer and am hoping somebody here does.

She bought 6 young super dwarf Cavendish banana plants from a nursery which measured about 15. - 20cm. (Musa Tropicana)

She noticed the roots coming out of the pot and decided to report them all but one died within a day , it's seems they went completely limp and felts like they had snapped at the base.

Any ideas?

Thank you!
