I'm guessing it does. I placed the end of the meter on the ground by the corm and if this temp is right, I'm guessing the corm may be okay (it's under the ground) but the 1 1/2' stump is probably not going to make it come spring. Our low temp did go down to about 9* last week and that temp is holding in the mulched area.....our temp today was about 50* and the meter is still reading 11*. So the mulching is holding the cold temps. Maybe that is good there isn't a lot of fluctuation cause our temps will eventually go back down to single digits soon.[IMG][/IMG]
