Question New leaves shreaded, any way to prevent it?

I was wondering, is there any way to prevent leaves from shreading as they are coming out of the p-stem? Would maybe using a few light rubber bands work until the leaf fully emerges? Would that damage the leaf? Any thoughts? Sounds kinda funny, I know.. but it's just a pet peeve of mine that new leaves have to get shreaded only because they haven't fully emerged yet.
