It’s not mushy or soft but the area of the stem affected appears to be “wilting”. Soil has been moist but not soaked. I tend to over water so I’m trying very hard to slow down. Soil is miracle grow cactus mix. Any thoughts/advice would be great. Thanks.

Hi welcome,
Yes, be worried.
But it’s fixable. You’re mix isn’t lush enough for bananas they’re heavy feeders.
Add any compost top soil to the soil mix no more than an inch of water in containers. Wet it good until water drains out the bottom.

Too much water (wet all the time) will induce fungus.

Fertilizer in a couple of weeks, you don’t want to burn the root ball/mat.
Less is more.
Good luck
