Re: What type of banana do I have?
Ok I have browsed around here a bit and am getting used to this site. So here is actually my intro.
I am currently 56 Y/O and retired FF/EMT. I am new to bananas.org actually new to raising them as well.
Born in Indiana raised from age 11 in florida, mom and dad had two banana tree (mound / clusters /settings) not sure what its called, growing at the edge of our lake. They were weird large odd shaped bananas that never seemed to ripen until they were almost black and always tasted bitter / odd. I now know they had large Orinoco plants.
I now have to group / cluster / mounds in my back yard that were volunteers from composting I received from landscaping debris.
When I found them and actually had bananas ( the ones in my photos) I started doing research and have since located and bought a dwarf Cavendish plant. I also have been in contact with a local man who will sell me a few blue javas.
I look forward to cultivating several different types.
To Be Continued!
