I'm growing one in a container this year too, first time also. It has at least tripled in size since I got it. As each new leaf unfurls, another leaf is inside rolled up ready to keep growing. I read that in ideal conditions, a single leaf can be 10 feet long. It's really a beast on growth, seems to be about 3 inches taller with each new leaf. I really like it. I fertilize it every 2 weeks with all my other containers. Good luck with yours!
