Default My plant has a flower!!!!.....but what species is it?

I've got a banana plant that was bought in Tenerife ~7yrs ago and has been growing in my (not that warm!) room ever since. This summer it's produced a flower - I'm very excited!

I was just wondering if anybody could help me identify what sort of banana plant it is? Also, is there anything I can do to help it produce its bananas, or is it too late now? (I'm afraid it's not had a great life so far - it probably needs a bigger pot, more fertiliser & a warmer climate.....!)

Any identification/help much appreciated - I don't know much about banana plants but am keen to learn! Thanks!
