Default Banana leaf still wrapped around new one

Hi, I have a ~4 foot dwarf lady finger currently in my bedroom under an LED light and I had noticed that a leaf was still kinda stuck and not opening. You could tell a new leaf was already well in progress inside of the leaf and seemingly strangling the poor thing. So I made a decision to free the new leaf and cut some of the older leaf so that no harm would be done with the continued growth of the plant

Was this bad? Is it normal? Would the banana eventually have sorted itself out? I dont recall this ever happening when it was outside and growing rapidly.

Thanks!
