Nice bananas but I need pictures of the plant. I would need your location too. If the stem finished producing fruit, you can always cut it as it produces only once. Make sure to leave the pups where they are and do not damage the corm. Just cut the stem a few inches from the ground. If it's moulding, I would.
You can start to peel the rotting layers first to see if it's rotting inside as well.
What variety is this? Many varieties do not ripe on the plant and you need to remove them when they are filled so they can turn yellow. When did the plant flower?
