First to your issue about uploading photos to bananas.org:
There are actually two steps involved when uploading. When you get the message that your photo was uploaded/submitted successfully, you still have to wait a moment until you get redirected to a new screen where you have to click on "process". Only then your photo will show up in your gallery and from there you will be able to post them.

In regards of your banana plant (BTW: where did you get it? Is it the "real" Blue Java?), it sounds that you have probably overfertilized and/or overwatered it. It is usually stressful for a plant to be put in the ground from a pot. It has to develop new roots and corm mass first. Never fertilize such a plant before you see new growth like a new cigar leaf. Water sparely or the pre-existing roots and corm might just rot away.
Other question, how big was it before you planted it in the ground? If it was a tissue culture, those are much more sensitive.
