Default Keeping your thumbs green

What do you do to keep your skills in shape, your mind sharp, your thumbs green, when you put your bananas to bed for the winter? I decided to turn my attention to Phalaenopsis Orchids. Several years ago I received my first Phal. It was from an old lady down the road that passed away. The old lady's daughter was cleaning out the house and gave me the orchid. This plant was in bad shape. Aftert removing all the moss, cutting off allthe rotten roots, and repotting in bark chunks this plant really perked up. Soon it put out new leaves and in April it had the most beautiful purple flowers that lasted for 3 months. I was sold at that point. Last week I was working out of town and I walked over to the Lowes store next door and noticed 3 Phals on the clearance rack. So I bought the plants and they spent the night in my hotel room. The next day they traveled 135 miles in the cab of the dump truck I was driving. Yesterday I repotted 2 of them. The last one still has a few white flowers, so am waiting till they drop. Well that's my story, what's yours?
