I picked up a very small but quite adequate Black and Decker "foodsaver" at a yard sale for $6; it's small enough to tuck under the front seat of my truck. Go forth and search for one. Your wife would never know you had it but instead wonder at the marvelous little sucked tight bags you miraculously produced.
