Hello, my name is Di and I'm new to Bananas.org I joined a couple of days ago but didn't understand how to use the introductions section until now. What a wealth of information there is here. I'm amazed the generosity of the members. My interest is in growing bananas for use as a textile fiber plant as well as for the fruits. Presently growing in my garden is M. basjoo and a Dwarf Cavendish; I am waiting on M. balbisiana and E. ventricosum to germinate and M. textilis seeds to arrive in the mail. Any feedback I can get on the strength and fineness( hairlike, threadlike) of fibers you encounter in each variety you grow when cutting the pseudo-stems would be welcome and helpful to me. Thanks so much for having this forum and for having me. I hope I can make a contribution to my sharing my experience with another product of and use for this wonderful plant.
